New to Blogging? Thank God for Tips!!!
As a newbie to blogging, I have been spending quite some time reading and exploring various blogging tips and the do’s and don’ts of the blogosphere. I have been truly impressed with the vast amount of helpful information that I have been able to come across. Darren Rowse’s recent post; Listening- Principles of Successful Blogging #1 from ProBlogger, stresses the importance of listening. Sure, listening seems simple enough but after reading the whole post I realized the many different elements of “listening.” Rowse states this about blogging; “The people we tend to be drawn to in real life are people who pause in conversation to let you have a say, people who ask questions about you, people who have a genuine interest in what you’ve got to say.” This sentence really got me thinking about blogging and how I could incorporate this into my weekly posts. What is that I want to share with my audience and how can I keep that interaction and converstation flowing? I know it will take some time to learn the ropes and establish a voice for myself but I do think it’s going to be an interesting journey of learning.
So back to blogging, I wanted to share a few tips that I came across this week that I thought were noteworthy and interesting to share.
- Listen to the blogosphere- there’s a lot to learn out there but if one is willing to search, listen and understand then I think it makes the learning process a lot more managable and less intimidating.
- Getting to know your target audience- knowing who you are writing for lets you make connections.
- Create eye catching titles- that seems to be the initial hook, right?
- Be yourself- finding your own genuine vioce seems to be key to most successful blogs. They all have their own so- called personality.
- Post often- people seem to return to blogs in hopes that a new entry has been posted. Updating consistently is important if you want your audience to come back.
